SUCCESS STORIES

Ava is a great example of what happens when QCPAWS and the Rock Island Animal Shelter work together to achieve a common goal; getting animals adopted. We took a dog (Ava) that could be considered aggressive and were allowed to work and train her to become more family friendly and adoptable. No time limit was put on her, and it took plenty of patience and communication to make this adoption successful. This is a great example of how Facebook helped us reach so many people and allowed us to tell Ava's story and explain her personality and special needs; it put a story to a face. It shows that special things can happen when people do extraordinary things.
Ava’s new owners say she is the best dog they ever had, and they absolutely love her! |

Delaney was a special gal! What a doll! She WAS a stray and now is...."THE BOSS"!!!! Gotta love it!
It's been 5 days now since I adopted Delaney from the RICAS and everything is fantastic. She acts like she's been in charge here forever lol. loves to take me for walks and I am so happy with her as a major part of my family. She's the best !!! |

Once I was a Princess, I was given the name. In a kingdom of love, family and play.
I had kids to romp with, until along came, a tiny little bundle of joy, “Baby” was her name. I heard my family say, to the shelter staff one day, she barks too much, and the baby she awakes.
“I am a Hound Dog”, I wish I could say. When once I was a Princess, now I must pray. I pray that another, will see me the same, as my family once did one day. |

Bee had been at the shelter for almost a year. She was adopted yesterday ! We love these dogs so much! It is hard to see them go, but really it is bitter sweet! Bee has been worked with almost every day, for the last 6 months, by a volunteer named Linda. Linda is amazing and has taught Bee how to sit and shake! |

Dugan had been at the shelter for months. He is finally in his new home and is being loved so much! |

Here are Ditka and Butkus, brothers from another mother, but best friends. Both were brought to RIAC&C as puppies, neglected and/or abused by their previous "owners". Only 5 months separates their respective ages and they are inseparable. Here they are watching their favorite show, Pit Bulls & Parolees while snuggling on the couch! |

Thanks for letting us Adopt one of the brown tiger kittens! Her ID was 11-3375. Our son has elected to name her Ivy, because she climbs all over the place. She's a great fit with our other 4 yr old female cat Bella. They love chasing each other and playing laser tag. Thanks a bunch :) ! |

Mischa was in rough shape, both mentally and physically when she was found roaming on the highway. Considering her state, the staff at the Rock Island Animal shelter thought it was best not to put her on the adoption floor, but look for a rescue organization that would take her.
Fortunately for Mischa, a wonderful person heard of Mischa through a mutual customer of a local Vet and the rest is history. Mischa went from waiting for someone to give her a chance to being the beloved pet of her devoted owner. Mischa spends her days by her owner’s side as a trusted companion. You can find her on Saturday mornings with her owner at the Farmer’s Market. She has gained weight and loves other dogs and children Mischa’s story is a great example of how understanding and patience make all the difference to an animal in need. |
